Urgent Hikvision Firmware Update
As your One Ideal Partner, we are committed to keeping you informed of recent developments that may impact your security program. This week, we were notified by Hikvision of a critical cyber vulnerability in some Hikvision products. To confirm if your hardware has been impacted, the full list of products affected by the vulnerability can be accessed through the Security Advisory section on Hikvision’s website.
To date, the vulnerabilities that have been reported by Hikvision and/or made publicly known have been patched in the latest Hikvision firmware, which is now readily available on the Hikvision website.
To ensure proper cyber hygiene of your equipment, we strongly urge you to directly update your devices with the latest firmware as soon as possible.
In the interest of transparency, Hikvision has provided the following details and timeline regarding the identification of and response to the vulnerabilities:
In June 2021, Hikvision was contacted by a security researcher, Watchful IP, who reported a potential vulnerability in a Hikvision camera. Once the report was confirmed, Hikvision worked directly with the researcher to patch and verify the successful mitigation of the reported vulnerability.
In addition, Hikvision has committed to continuing to work with third-party white-hat hackers and security researchers, to find, patch, disclose and release updates to products in a timely manner.
